YAS Mixed Plate is a unique approach to Spring Break. We’re changing up our usual Art Camp and allowing students to customize their art experience for the week. By signing up for all of the classes, students can have a full art camp OR pick and choose which classes they want to participate in. Take just one class or a few, it’s up to you!
All supplies included
Lunch is not provided. Students staying for multiple classes should bring their own lunch/snacks.

YAS Refund Policy
If a student is unable to attend, a full refund will be issued if cancellation is prior to the registration deadline; if after the registration deadline but prior to the start of class a 50% refund will be issued; and no refund will be issued after the first day of class.

T Shirt Design
Thursday & Friday10:30-12:00Enrollment Fee:$25.00 - EHCC Member$30.00 - Non MemberIn this class students will get the chance to design their own unique t-shirt! This class blends traditional drawing and painting with a fun wearable canvas. Students will learn to draw a character as the focal point of their t-shirt design. They'll then learn to transfer the design onto a shirt and paint in their creation.Bio:Jessica graduated from the University of Hawaii at Hilo with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art. She is currently an Educational Assistant with the East Hawaii District Regional Sped. Learn More -
Watercolor Painting
Monday & Tuesday12:30-2:00Enrollment Fee:$25.00 - EHCC Members$30.00 - Non MembersWant to make colors dance on paper? In this watercolor class students will begin by learning about color theory through creating a color wheel. They’ll utilize their color theory to create a painting of a bunny under the guidance of the instructor. Within their painting composition they’ll learn a variety of painting techniques including resist, wet on wet, and wet on dry.Bio:Aria Delgado is a junior at University of Hawai’i at Hilo, majoring in Art. In her high school years, she participated in both California State Semester School of the Arts and CalArts Discovery Animation Summer Program. She has been a freelance artist for a few years now, using digital and traditional art. After joining EHCC’s volunteer team in 2024, she hopes to inspire and spread the importance of personal expression in the art she teaches. Learn More -
Mixed Media Collage

Students will create a collage inspired by their personality and interests. They’ll utilize a variety of materials including magazine clippings, paint, stencils, markers and more!Bio:Akane Kinjo was born and raised in Hilo. She honed her teaching skills while working as a tutor at University of Hawai‘i at Hilo and Hawai‘i Community College art classes. As a practicing artist, she is proficient in Drawing, Painting, Photography, Digital Art, Animation, Video Editing, and Photo Editing. Learn More -
Printmaking
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday10:30-12:00Enrollment Fee:$40.00 - EHCC Members$45.00 - Non MembersStudents will explore different types of printmaking. They’ll create their own designs and incorporate block printing, linotype, collagraph, and ohe‘ kapala. Theyʻll also utilize found objects and plant material for inking and printing on heavy-weight Arches paper. Students will get to experiment with various watercolors, colored pencils, acrylic paint and earth-based paints and inks to enhance their prints.Bio:Mary Milelzcik has a B.A. degree from Sonoma State University’s School of Expressive Arts, a radical two-year upper division interdisciplinary experimental program where you worked with a mentor, and chose your own path in upper-division. Printmaking and papermaking were her focus. This transformative experience set the path for an interesting career as a mixed media artist and photographer; as the Curator at Highways Performance Space and Gallery in Santa Monica CA for ten years; and as an artist and instructor of papermaking, mixed media encaustic art, and printmaking.
