Program type:
Dates:
Saturday, June 11, 2022 - 10:00am to 2:00pm

The Downtown Hilo Museum Square presents its 1st annual World Ocean Day event! The first in a series of quarterly community events to be put on by the Museum Square, WOD will take place in Kalākaua Park on Saturday, June 11 from 10:00 AM–2:00 PM.

World Ocean Day (internationally on June 8), brings awareness to sustainable management of the world’s oceans and highlights the importance of ocean conservation education and action.

The Museum Square’s event is put on in partnership with the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo and will feature informational booths, a live radio broadcast from KWXX, keiki activities, and more!

What is the Museum Square?

The Museum Square is a collective composed of East Hawai‘i Cultural Center (141 Kalākaua Street), Hawai‘i Science and Technology Museum (64 Keawe St. Suite 201), Mokupāpapa Discovery Center (76 Kamehameha Ave.), and Pacific Tsunami Museum (130 Kamehameha Ave.).

The Museum Square aims to uplift our downtown Hilo community. We will encourage people to explore the area and support all of the local small businesses that make our neighborhood so unique. Quarterly, the Museum Square will hold community based events to activate underutilized spaces and further highlight business in and around the square through family fun events and outreach.
