EHCC/Hawaii Museum of Art announces winners and participants for their annual Summer Art Juried Show on exhibit July 3 through 31. From a selection of paintings, photographs, sculptures, oils, charcoal, digital, wood, glass, acrylic and clay art pieces, the following were awarded prizes as follows:

1st Prize: Clifford Tanaka, “Orange and Black” acrylic; 2nd Prize: Debbie Mitchel, “Rara Avis,” ink drawing; 3rd Price: Joe Laceby, “The Silverest Sword,” cyanotype with minerals. Honorable Mention: Charlene Asato, “Curtain of fire: day and night,” Artist’s book using metalic, beeswax and paste; and Robert Matinjussi, “Seaview II,” tempera.

Other entries have been submitted by: Ilana Moidel Acevedo, Laura Moidel Acevedo, Lisa Louise Adams, Henry Bianchini, Jan Burda, Jeff Dahl, David DeGomez, Bob Douglas, Paul Ely, Erin Foley, Philip Haysmer, Dennis Ida, Steve Irvine, Nainoa Kalaukoa, Kristine Kuba, Leonard Kubo, Chris Manaseri, Ethel Elizabeth Mann, Debbie McLean, Pilar Mendoza, Jerry Moulton, Norman Negre, Thu Nguyen, Patrick O’Kiersey, Sherry Partlow, Jan Perry-Clarke, Joseph Tuesing, Sakiko Shinkai and Elfie Wilkins-Nacht.

The Juror for the Summer Art Juried Show is noted Honolulu printmaker, Laura Smith, former executive director of the Honolulu Printmakers and one of the founders of the Honolulu Printmaking Workshop.

Summer with Big Island Artists

The Main Gallery hosts chosen artwork by Big Island residents including oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings, ink and charcoal drawings, collage, photographs, an artist's book and stained glass sculpture . The show opens 5:30 p.m. on Friday, July 3 and runs through July 31.
