The Program
“Sketches and Dreams” celebrates memories and tales, both imaginary and real, through an eclectic range of contemporary solo piano repertoire, from the dreamy sound-world inspired by the gamelan in Debussy’s “Estampes” to the somber and hopeful “It Feels Like a Mountain, Chasing Me” by Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) (who wrote the piece for Eunbi for piano and her pre-recorded voice) to Tania Leon’s ode to Cuba in her infectious, salsa-influenced piece “Tumbao” to the playful vaudevillian ragtime “The Serpent’s Kiss” by William Bolcom.
