About
The Ceramics Studio is located behind the main building and offers a range of pottery classes for adults- both for beginners and advanced. It is now home to several potters' wheels and 30-cubic-foot gas-fired downdraft car kiln. Sessions run in 8 week segments, with open studio hours available to those who have already registered previously. Check back for updates and new listings!
How to register for a session
- Click on the “ADD TO CART” paypal button below for each participant you are signing up by selecting EHCC Member or NON Member price. Please carefully review your selection before processing payment.
- Once payment is complete, you should be automatically redirected to the Registration Form where you will need to fill out one for each participant. If you are not redirected, please contact our office.

Wheel Throwing with Stephen Freedman
- For Adults 18+
- 3 hours per week, 8 week session,
- EHCC-Members: 300 + 75 supply fee = $375.00
- NON-Members: 330 + 75 supply fee = $405.00

SPACE IS LIMITED-REGISTER NOW! This is the ultimate wheel throwing class for beginners and experienced potters looking to enhance their throwing skills! Stephen Freedman, renowned artist and author of The Evolution of a Potter, will share his wealth of knowledge to a small cohort of students. Each student will have access to a standing treadle wheel, studio tools, and Open Studio while enrolled. Two electric wheels are reserved for those with greater physical needs; please indicate this preference during registration. As a class focused on the process rather than production, student work will only be bisque fired. Glazing workshops will follow at a later date. For inquiries, please email [email protected]
Community Survey on Ceramics Programming
EHCC is surveying the community to find out what people want from ceramics classes in East Hawai’i. Whether you’ve never taken a class, or are already an advanced student, we want to hear from you. Health and Safety Guidelines:
- Face masks encouraged but optional- the ceramics studio is well ventilated.
- Hand sanitizer and antibacterial soaps will be readily available. All individuals are encouraged to sanitize or wash their hands before entering the classroom area.
- Be mindful of social distancing.
- If you have been in contact with anyone who has cold/flu-like symptoms, or is feeling unwell in any way, PLEASE STAY HOME. We will issue a refund if you're unable to attend class as a result of any health-related issues.
